CALL ME BURROUGHS, A Life, Miles, Barry
1 Miles, Barry CALL ME BURROUGHS, A Life
New York Twelve / 12 / Grand Central Publishing 2013 1455511951 / 9781455511952 Uncorrected Proof Stiff Card Wraps Very Good Octavo -- from 7.75" to 9.75" Tall
Miles tells the complete story of one of the three most important people of the Beat Generation (along with Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg) -- although a legitimate case could be made for there being four such people, the last being Joan Vollmer, Burroughs's common-law wife, whom he shot while attempting, drunk and drug-addled, to shoot a water tumbler from her head, William Tell-style. 712 pages (including notes, bibliography, 20 blank index pages), illustrated. Rubbing, light edgewear, a little smudging, crinkled/partially turned top left corner of back cover, similar flaws to same area of last hundred pages of so, diminishing the further into the book one goes. All in all a pretty good copy that is internally tight and clean. Uncommon.
