A pair of young people attend an extra-special First of July celebration in this story set in 1882 in the Ottawa Valley. McFarlane was the (sadly) anonymous original writer of the Hardy Boys books, which made roughly three-quarters of a bazillion dollars for the publisher, but about four cents for him. Black illustration on orange cloth, 99 pages, dust jacket and interior illustrations by Parker. Previous owner's name to top edge of front end paper, National Library of Canada stamp to rear end paper, light general wear, in lightly rubbed dust jacket w/lightly sunned spine, mild edgewear, 1/4" tear to bottom edge of front cover.
