Originally published a year earlier by University of London Press. The author of the Biggles stories here introduces Captain Lorrington King (a.k.a. Gimlet, a.k.a. Skipper) of Combined Operations in the first of a series of adventures against the Nazis. A title from the publisher's Venture Books for Boys series. Tan cloth, 254 pages + 2 pages of advertisements for other of the publisher's titles, illustrated in b&w w/colour frontispiece. A bit of slant, moderate cover soil, dusty/tanned edges, previous owner's name/address on front free end paper, moderate general wear. Dust jacket w/edgewear/chipping, edge tears, long tears to folds, previous owner's tape repairs to reverse, crinkling/creasing. Uncommon in a dust jacket. Jacket now in protective mylar sleeve.
