Contains chapters on locomotive valves, the Stephenson valve gear, locomotive management, breakdowns, oil-burning locomotives, the Type D duplex stoker, and locomotive value setting. Green cloth w/red cloth backstrip w/gilt spine lettering, marbled end papers, illustrated, three fold-outs. Circular stains to cloth of front cover (probably the ubiquitous coffee cup, moderate edgewear, one frayed corner, other corners lightly worn, moderate wear to spine ends, 2.5" tear to left spine edge, 1" scrape to join of green/red cloth on back cover, some staining to back cover, light internal soil, rear hinge going. Internally still fairly tight. Uncommon. (C/BT)
