Originally published a year earlier by University of London Press. The author of the Biggles stories here introduces Captain Lorrington King (a.k.a. Gimlet, a.k.a. Skipper) of Combined Operations in the first of a series of adventures against the Nazis. A title from the publisher's Venture Books for Boys series. Tan cloth, 254 pages + 2 pages of advertisements for other of the publisher's titles, illustrated in b&w w/colour frontispiece. Some cover soil, slight board warp, lightly soiled edges, previous owner's stamps to front end paper, another to title page, a few turned corners, general wear, in edgeworn dust jacket w/chipping, short edge tears, impressions, 1.5" tear to bottom of front fold. Uncommon in a dust jacket, and this one is now in a protective mylar sleeve.
