A family driving to Gramma's place for a birthday celebration becomes trapped in a small town where Satanists are abducting children and indoctrinating them into their little circle of Satan worshippers. Tension ensues. Novelization of the 1971 movie of the same name (tough to believe that the nominees for best picture that year were The French Connection -- which won -- A Clockwork Orange, Fiddler on the Roof, The Last Picture Show, and Nicholas and Alexandra, and this one didn't even get an honourable mention -- what WAS the Academy thinking? I mean, c'mon, this had Strother Martin and Geri Reischl and Alvy Moore in it. And there were Satanists! What did those other films have? Sure, a plot, and A-list actors and character development and stuff, but how many of us identify with some low-life drug dealer getting shot in the back? But Satanists turning little children into heartless murderers, hey, don't we all think about doing that on a daily basis?). 155 pages + 5 pages of advertisements for other Award titles. A lovely copy of a scarce title, internally tight and clean, with just a hint of general wear.
