Although based loosely on an operation that took place in 1940, this is a work of fiction in which a valuable Guernsey cow is rescued from one of the Channel Islands controlled by a small group of German soldiers (in this story the island is called Armorel, which doesn't exist, but hey, everyone knows that the story takes place on one of the Channel Islands, so Tickell could have called it Lower Bumsmack and everybody would have known). 192 pages (last page blank). Mild spine roll, light surface wear/impressions, light handling wear. A fairly nice copy of an uncommon edition of this popular work.
