The programme and prize list for the 1943 Stanley Fair, which has been held annually in Stanley, New Brunswick, since 1851. This was the 93rd fair, held from September 20 through 23, 1943, and the programme details the fair's various categories and prizes, including, for instance, a $5 prize for the top bull two years or older (Division II, Cattle, Class 7, Jerseys); a $2 prize for the best half bushel of wheat (Division VII, Agriculture); a $1 prize for the best pair of single mittens (Division X, Women's Work [really, women's work -- that's what it says, but it's followed by the more dignified sub-category of Household Science, for which the top prize of $1 was awarded for the best in a variety of categories featuring baked goods]); a $0.75 prize for the best "Drawing of some object" (Division XIII--Children's Work); and many more. In addition to those activities directly related to the fair, there are many advertisements promoting a variety of New Brunswick businesses and organizations, as well as a few inserts from the provincial government of the day. Comes in original mailing envelope. 82 pages (including unused Notes page at end), double-page map at centre. Some smudging/soil to covers, rust staining at staples, light internal smudging/soil, a minor dampstaining to first couple of pages, centre sheet (comprising part of programme/prize list on page 25, map at pages 26 and 27, and two advertisements on page 28) detached but present. Original mailing envelope tattered/chipped/creased around edges, bottom edge separated along full length (turned over, the bottom edge becomes the top edge), short edge tears, moderate soil.
